Trace is our new mobile monitoring add-on that has been in public beta since late February. It is also available to you if you have a Bitrise account, so if you want to dive into it, here's where you should start.

Just like Bitrise, Trace was also built by mobile developers for mobile developers. We wanted to create a monitoring solution we've been missing all this time — a tool that properly tackles the three critical areas of monitoring: detecting the problem, assessing the impact, and tracing the cause.

Here's the list of our favorite features — hope you'll enjoy them just as much as we do 💜

1. Easy setup

Setting up Trace is so easy it fits into a 5-second gif. Once you add the Trace Step (iOS, Android) to your Workflow and run a green build, you will be able to access all reports in the Trace dashboard.

2. Session browser

With the session browser, you can dive deeper into what your users were doing before, during, and after their app crashed. This will save you a lot of time you'd otherwise spend on investigating the bug.

3. Crash reporting

Trace reports crashes in real-time with details about the user sessions and devices, filtered by issue types. You can get important insights such as the number of occurrences, affected users, and versions, so you can quickly prioritize the most critical issues first.

Crash reporting is only available on iOS for now, but we are already working on rolling it out to Android as well.

4. Performance reports

After you run a successful build, you can head to Trace immediately and see how your app performs — you can monitor crash rate, memory/CPU usage, latency, and network performance, all in one place.

5. Impact analysis

Users are grouped by app version, country, OS version, device, network, and carrier, giving you a better understanding of who is impacted. You can see the impact of each crash on a single page and pinpoint the areas that require your immediate attention.

We think everyone needs mobile monitoring in their life, so Trace is available for all Bitrise users. Add Trace to your Workflow now to monitor your app’s performance across the entire install base and get detailed crash reports.
