Oh, so stylish Slack messages

Based on your feedback, we've made the Slack step even smarter with tons of new customizable inputs.

Based on your feedback, we've made the Slack step even smarter with tons of new customizable inputs.

The new messages sent by Bitrise include

  • status of the build
  • git commit information (author name, message subject and body)
  • app name, bitrise workflow, git branch
  • footer with logo and timestamp
  • button linking to the Build
  • button linking to the App

in multi-column view. This is how the default messages look like:

If you add the app to the workflow on bitrise.io, you can customize your messages to match your style and needs. With the latest update, 16 new input fields were introduced. (See the full list here.) The footer and the buttons are optional, so if you'd like to opt out, just delete their inputs and they will disappear.

One of the other most significant changes rolled out today is that from now on you can customize the message sent in case of a failed build separately with the env vars listed under a new category. So from now on you can report failed builds to other Slack channels or just use a more prominent colour or an emoji of your choice.

Happy slacking!
