We are talented, we are discoverers, and nothing is impossible at Bitrise! Meet Jani, Partner Manager from Budapest. Read about his journey to Bitrise, what it is possible to achieve at Bitrise and beyond, and his most defining career moments.Â
Why did you choose to work at Bitrise?
After spending a bit of time in a huge enterprise, I figured out that it was not really for me. Ever since then, I was looking for opportunities to join smaller organizations to have the ability to build things from scratch and have a significant impact. When I was approached, Bitrise really stood out as a hot startup with huge ambitions and exceptional potential, so I’m extremely happy that I joined the team.
What’s your role at Bitrise? How can you accelerate your career within Bitrise?
I lead the partnership team here at Bitrise. On the one hand, we’re supporting our technology partners to build integrations on top of the Bitrise platform, and we’re also working with solutions partners — consultancies, and professional services organizations — to help them implement Bitrise for their end clients and optimize their mobile app development practices.
Partnerships is an emerging profession, and I love the opportunity to be able to spearhead the partnership programs for such a popular brand and product.
What was the lesson that you learned along the way, that you wish you had known right from the start?
Here, what you can make of your career, is really up to you. There’s no micromanaging, you are really free to become the best version of yourself through continuous learning.
What keeps you inspired?
Since Bitrise is a fairly technical and complex product and the problems we’re solving are equally complex, I learn something new every day. It took me quite a while to actually understand what it is that Bitrise does and what challenges mobile developers face every day, but now I truly believe that mobile is the future, and I want to be a part of the solution that supports such a crucial and growing industry.
What would you do for a career if you weren't doing this?Â
My background and education was more on the marketing side before transitioning into partnerships, but I do have a lot of interest in product development as well. What fascinates me the most is to see the product being used by actual people and knowing that I was working on that specifically. If I had to tell something completely different, outside of the technology sector, I’d probably give woodworking a go for that same matter — being able to see and touch the end product.
What kind of skills do you need to have to work effectively at Bitrise?
Be comfortable stepping out of your comfort zone. If you’re like me and don’t have a deep technical background, you’ll face situations where you don’t completely understand the topic at hand. Also, once again, being able to effectively manage yourself and your time is crucial. We’re a globally distributed company. We’re doing our best to connect with each other, and communicate everything internally, but chances are, you’ll most likely work from your home, and you need to be able to be effective in such an environment.
What’s your favorite method of learning?
Learning by doing. Nothing that tops that.
Do you have any tips you’d like to share with aspiring Risers?
I think as we’re maturing as an organization, the bar to join the team is getting higher and higher. But that shouldn’t really discourage you from applying. It’s a cliche, but we really are always on the hunt for talented folks to join us, and challenge our way of thinking and do something better. You should really have a thing for self-development and learning to be able to keep up with the rapidly changing industry, but if that’s your cup of tea, we want to hear from you. :)
